For over 20 years, Kaarli Eichhorn has been involved in numerous high-profile and politically sensitive global mergers and competition law cases. Kaarli is recognized in various legal publications, including The Legal 500, as a "Leading Individual" for Competition: EU and Global (2023).He has extensive experience in competition law, international regulation, government affairs, foreign investment control, and sanctions. His expertise spans sectors such as energy, oil and gas, transportation, telecommunications, consumer goods, aerospace, life sciences, financial services, and media.Before joining Jones Day, Kaarli served as Global Executive Counsel for Competition Law and Policy at General Electric (GE). During his 10 years at GE, he advised on hundreds of international transactions and led global merger clearance processes for GE’s acquisitions of Alstom ($10.6 billion), Avio ($4.3 billion), Lufkin ($3.3 billion), and Dresser ($3 billion), as well as the divestments of NBCU ($30 billion) and over $200 billion in GE Capital assets. He managed a significant portion of GE’s advisory, training, guidance, internal investigations, and audits within its global business divisions.In 2020, Kaarli was elected Vice-Chair of the AmCham EU Board of Directors and re-elected in 2022, a position he held until November 2023. He has held several other leadership roles at AmCham EU and is currently Vice-Chair for Competition and the Ukraine Task Force.He has served on the Board of Directors of the European Justice Forum, as Vice-President of the In-House Competition Counsel Association, and as a member of BusinessEurope’s Competition Committee. He is also a Non-Governmental Advisor to the International Competition Network.Kaarli leads Jones Day's Nordic practice.
