Our CEO – Ryan John WrobelRyan John Wrobel, our CEO, was born in Buffalo, New York, USA. During his years of study in Western New York, Ryan frequently traveled to the Canadian border, sparking a deep interest in travel, culture, and commerce. After high school, he graduated in Political Science from the State University of New York at Buffalo (SUNY-Buffalo). During his university studies, he was nominated for the Robert H. Stern Award in 1999 for his outstanding undergraduate research paper in Political Science, titled "The Condition of Human Rights in Jamaica."After graduating from university, Ryan entered SUNY-Buffalo Law School, where he focused more on international law. He further enriched his academic knowledge with two internships abroad: the first at the University of the West Indies Law School in Barbados, and the second at University College London (UCL) in the United Kingdom.During his studies at the University of the West Indies in Barbados, Ryan had the opportunity to work on foreign investments and international financial law within the Caribbean Commonwealth. It was during this time that he considered living and working in the region one day.Immediately after receiving his law degree, Ryan decided to continue his legal education at University College London. Pursuing his master’s degree was an enriching experience for him. In addition to gaining extensive knowledge of English law at a prestigious institution, which boasts graduates like Mahatma Gandhi, he also had the opportunity to interact with colleagues from around the world. After spending more than a year immersed in the educational and cultural environment of cosmopolitan London, Mr. Wrobel also had the chance to visit many European countries. His stay in London strengthened Mr. Wrobel’s determination to pursue an international career to achieve his goals. During his time at University College London, he received the Bentham Prize from the UCL Faculty, which recognizes foreign graduates with honors, and also published an article on territorial disputes between Belize and Guatemala in the American Bar Association’s International Law Review. After returning to the United States with a master’s degree in law from UCL, Ryan passed the New York State Bar Exam and was admitted in 2004. He began his legal career in Buffalo and was called to sit in the United States District Court and United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of New York. While practicing U.S. law was a rewarding experience, it did not fulfill Ryan’s desire to work in the field of international law. Therefore, in 2005, he made the decision to emigrate to Belize, a country he had visited numerous times (since 1999) and one that had sparked his interest since 1996.Upon arriving in Belize, our CEO enrolled in a tour guide training program to learn more about his new country. He also began working as a legal and business advisor for the Big Four company Deloitte & Touche Belize in Belize City, where he led the legal and corporate services department. Over time, he gained significant experience in the legal system of Belize and focused on studying international transactions and corporate law.He traveled throughout the country and developed strong ties to its culture, people, and way of life. Mr. Wrobel is a member of the Donations Fund Union Committee, which raises funds to support the Belize Scouts Association. He has also been elected treasurer of the American Chamber of Commerce of Belize (AMCHAM-Belize). He is a member of the Belize Realtors Association (AREBB), the Belize International Financial Services Association (BISFA), and the Belize History Museum. Mr. Wrobel is also a member of the social welfare committee of the Royal British Legion of the Belize Branch. Recently, Mr. Wrobel was elected director and committee member of the Belize Rifle Club. He was appointed a notary public in New York State in 2004 and a justice of the peace by the Attorney General of Belize in 2008.In order to pursue his dream of working in law and advancing his career in Belize, he completed a six-month training program at the Norman Manley Law School in Kingston, Jamaica. The time spent at the law school was extremely beneficial, as he learned more about the application of law in the Caribbean Commonwealth and established strong contacts with legal practitioners in the region. Ryan J. Wrobel was admitted to the Belize Bar in September 2009 and soon after opened Wrobel & Co. and the corporate services firm British Honduras Professionals Ltd. He was later admitted to the Jamaican Bar in 2010 and to the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York in 2011.Under Ryan J. Wrobel’s leadership, Wrobel & Co. has quickly earned the trust and appreciation of many clients. The firm continues to offer its services to an international clientele from its main office in Belize City, as well as from other offices located in New York City and Kingston, Jamaica.
