Nataša Owens graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Zagreb in 1991 and started her career as a trainee lawyer at the law firm Nikola Bartolić. After passing the bar exam in 1998, she was registered in the Croatian Bar Association's directory and has been continuously practicing law since then. For some time, she also worked as a bankruptcy trustee.As a lawyer, she ran her own independent law firm from 1998 until 2007, except for the period from 2000 to 2003 when she practiced law in a joint firm with lawyer Katarina Žanetić. In early 2007, she co-founded the law firm Owens and Houška with lawyer Tihomir Houška.On June 7, 2016, at the suggestion of lawyer Lovorka Kušan, she was appointed to succeed her in her law firm, as the latter ceased practicing law due to taking up the position of judge at the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Croatia.Since 2003, she has been actively involved in the work of the associations European Movement Croatia and the European House Zagreb, initially as vice-president of the associations, then as president of the board, and in 2015, she also became president of the association. The European House Zagreb and the European Movement Croatia are leading non-governmental organizations dedicated to promoting European integration and operate in the field of information and promotion of the European idea, the system of values, and civilizational norms of a united Europe. Since 2008, she has been a member of the board of the European Movement International, an international association that brings together 39 European countries and 33 international organizations. Since 2014, she has held the position of vice-president of the association, and since 2020, she has served as treasurer. The European Movement International was founded in 1948 by Winston Churchill, Paul-Henri Spaak, and other key founders of the European idea, and has played an important role in the European integration process from then until today.
